The REINVENTathon
In the world of constant change, your team needs to build habits of constant reinvention. Technical teams do this with hackathons. But why should developers have all the fun? During Dan’s REINVENTATHON, your whole team will learn to reinvent the way they work. Change the way you ADAPT, ALIGN, & AUTOMATE to innovate and lead your industry in the Future of Teams.
What is a Reinventathon exactly?
Dan’s Reinventathon is a multi-day, interactive experience,
designed to inspire your team to reimagine the way they work.
It’s a 1.5-day, 3-day, or 5-day focused innovation burst for the whole team: from leaders to interns.
It’s an experience that benefits the whole organization: from customer service to finance, from marketing to product, from sales to talent or technology.
How does it work?
During the Reinventathon teams will gather together in small groups. They’ll pick something from the green side and something from the red side. Then they’ll spend the next one to five days trying to reinvent to eliminate the red and create more green.
Kickoff: (The first hour)
Dan gets things started with a presentation on continuous reinvention and how the Reinventathon works. He’ll share examples of how the best teams in the world use this practice to drive diverse, democratized, innovation and learning across the whole team.
Team forming & Ideation (the first day):
Next, teams spend the first portion of the time aligning into teams, often cross-functional ones. When you mix someone from Finance, Sales, and Tech together; great things might come out of the diversity in perspectives. Once teams have formed they spend the time brainstorming goals and obstacles.
Focused innovation time: (the middle days)
Now it’s time for the reinvention. Heads down collaboration. No meetings. No email. No Phone calls. No Zooms. Teams work on making things better for the future.
Demos and Awards (the final day):
Finally, teams get together to share learnings, demo solutions, talk about experiments. Things that didn’t work are successes too- as long as some learning came from the experience. Dan will assist other judges in choosing the winners!
How much time does this take?
The best Reinventathons are 5 days long. This gives the team sufficient time to make some real changes that truly impact the work. However, when you’re first getting started that might seem like a huge commitment.
Trust me. It’s worth it. But if you’re still not sure, here are some of the alternatives.
